Derek's Community Rescue started with a setback. I was driving a semi truck for the Postal Service when I was in a serious accident. It wasn't my fault, but it still cost me my job, and that paycheck was my family's only income.

With my last $500, I bought a cheap push mower, a string trimmer and a broom, and started mowing lawns to keep food on the table. That small start grew into the lawn care business I still run today.

Doing that work, I kept seeing yards that had gotten away from people. Behind almost every one was someone going through something hard. I knew what it was like to have life knock you down, so I started showing up.

Every cleanup is completely free for the homeowner, no questions asked. I mow, trim, haul it all off, and film the whole thing start to finish, so you can see the mess, the work, and the moment the homeowner sees their yard again.

Now we can't have that here.
